Rocket League Going Free-to-Play on September 23, Fortnite Crossover Event Announced

Psyonix has announced that Rocket League will be free-to-play from September 23. The game will also get a Fortnite crossover in-game event called Llama-Rama soon after it goes free-to-play.

The Llama-Rama event will feature various exclusive cosmetic items. Additional details about this event will be revealed soon. Psyonix has also shared details about the upcoming update for Rocket League. The update will bring cross-platform progression to the game. Players will have to link their platform to Epic Games account and specify their primary platform. This will allow players to participate in competitive rank and progression for connected platforms.

The Endo and Jager starter packs will be added to Rocket League. Along with these, the game is getting a new season pass, competitive tournaments, and in-game challenges. The developer had recently confirmed that PS Plus or Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions will not be required to play Rocket League after it becomes free-to-play.
